The Seed of Bitterness

Bitterness is a feeling of antagonism, hostility or resentfulness towards a person. Bitterness can subtly grow into division, accusation and hatred which are the opposite of the fruits of the spirit (found in Galatians 5:22-23). While we may feel like we have control over our bitterness, it actually imprisons us. When we are focusing on the shortcomings of others, it blinds us from the issues in our own hearts.

Jesus forgives us for all the evil we have done. The proper response to His forgiveness is to forgive others. When we forgive others in our hearts and hand them over to God, we can rest assured that He will handle the situation with perfect justice. Therefore, you find freedom in forgiving and praying for your enemies.
