Self-Hatred: The Silent Thief

Many people don’t recognize the bondage they are in, in regards to how they feel about themselves. Although self-hatred is ungodly both believers and unbelievers a like suffer from the web of lies and entanglements of their negative thoughts about the person they are or have become. Self hatred is like having an inner bully that tells you that you are worthless, things in your life will never change because you are… a failure, a victim, a sinner, you are stupid, a loser which causes regrets, self pity, infirmity and sickness, disappointment, fear, stress anxiety, guilt, shame and condemnation. Today, we want to expose those lies and help you realize the Lord has freedom for you! We want to help you tear down the house of lies the enemy has built in your mind. As a Christian we are ambassadors for the Kingdom of God and it is crucial for us to start believing what God says about us, so we can advance the kingdom for Christ Jesus.

Scripture References

18:38 “They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved.”

‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭2:19‬ ‭ESV‬‬

22:30 “Likewise, wives, be subject to your own husbands, so that even if some do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by the conduct of their wives, when they see your respectful and pure conduct. Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious. For this is how the holy women who hoped in God used to adorn themselves, by submitting to their own husbands, as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord. And you are her children, if you do good and do not fear anything that is frightening. Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.”

‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭3:1-7‬ ‭ESV‬‬

27:17 “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭139:13-16‬ ‭ESV‬‬

40:36 “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.””

The 4 R’s to Remember what self-hatred looks like.

Self hatred is the cry of a tormented soul, it keeps you shackled to the past!

Relationships: We are performance based and people pleasers. We need to be excepted in a groups of people, not rejected. We have the need to love at all risk and be loved by others. We will strive in dead works to try and do anything we can to get that love. We must realize we are always excepted and loved by God.

Recognition: We need to be successful in all that we do out in the open, so we can be knowledged by others: examples of the wrong thinking are: I’ll show them, I’ll prove to them who I really am, and look what I can do! I will get done before everyone else and show them what great stuff I can do.

Being Right There is a need to be right all the time, I need to do things right, then I will be OK and excepted as normal. People who’s driving force is right are very competitive and operate and function out of that mindset. They have to have the last word always.

Respect: The need to be understood, examples of wrong thinking: if I can just get them to respect me and what I can contribute to, then they will see that I have worth and that will make me feel better on the inside.
